Makeup Artistry by Deedee (Vintage Circus)

Well you probably know by now I really love fantasy makeup. I think the first time I saw punk rockers in San Francisco as a kid I was in love with the makeup and the freedom they allowed themselves to express through what I would call art. So I myself am a work in progress but I am really happy with the photos I am getting of my makeup at this shoot. This will be a series of four posts I worked with four models. First model is a clown I am obsessed with clowns I have no fear of them not sure why people do?

Besides who would be scared of this adorable clown?

What's in My Closet (That Old Purple Dress)

Now that it is cooling down (I forgot what that feels like) I am going into the back of my closet to see what I have. I found an old purple and black dress. It is warm and I think it would be cute with some black booties (not in my budget). So I styled this dress with my favorite shoes instead. What do you think keep or consignment?

The bracelet I am wearing is from an antique shop in Old Town Temecula. My favorite shopping is antique shops. I think that is because I view antiquing as an adventure, you never know what you will find. When I saw this bracelet it was love at first site. I blogged about it here.

Deedee's Makeup Artistry (Wrath)

I feel fortunate to be a part of a Photo Series of the Seven Deadly Sins. The first sin is Wrath! This was the shoot at Murphy's Ranch I posted about a week or two ago. You can read that post here.

The Makeup was pretty basic I used Black eyeliner gel with red eye shadow close to the eyes. I wanted the red to give her an angry evil look. For the hair I just used wire intertwined with pretty curls.

What's in My Closet (California Christmas)

Well we have just finished up two days of rain! It was nice to have rain, I love the sound of rain outside. I have been known to spin, run through and laugh etc in the rain too. It is to me a beautiful thing. Unless I am driving in it at night! It is partly cloudy or partly sunny depending on how you see it. I see blue skies and a few clouds. It is 63 degrees at 11:40 am. This outfit reflects a Christmas/December look with a true to my weather reality. Who else loves rain as much as I do?

Jacket: 6 Degrees

Jeans: Old Navy
Scarf: Unknown (gift )

Deedee's Beauty Corner (mark. I-mark. Wet/Dry Eye Shadow)

  • For everyone who is obsessed with eye shadows here is a good chance to stock up on some of my favorites. I have been using the I-mark. eye shadows for a few years now and I am still loving the pigment in these squares.  I was a clown for Halloween and used the green (Empress) and blue (Electra) and the color was perfect. They are only $1.99!

Check it out and tell me what you think. Go to my site use code 687610 in the search box to find this sale.

The squares do not come in a case.

These two pictures above are from the pallet above.

The picture above shadows are Electra, Ice Age and Luster (My favorite look)
The picture below is the pallet of Electra and Luster. Final Makeup look was done with just Electra

Scenery to Photograph (Murphy's Ranch)

Murphy's Ranch is in the Hills above Santa Monica. This is a beautiful place to hike and it is huge. I could never understand how people get lost hiking but I can see it now. I am not a true hiker I go hiking but not to break a sweat. I just want to explore. So this place has all sorts of rumors about being a Nazi camp in the 40's, but the Park Ranger told me that is not true. Either way the buildings are real and it is pretty interesting to see in person. They are going to tear down the buildings at some point so this will not be there forever. Some of the structures are in bad shape and the hike is pretty hard so I would say don't bring kids! The very first stairs you come to is steep, uneven, and very long. I got winded going down the stairs. I would not recommend using these stairs. If you continue up the fire road until you get to the gates (pictured below) that is the best way to get in. Go past the water tower and when you come to a second dirt road go left. Look on your right for a set of stairs that are much better and you will come out by the power house. I wish someone had posted this info before I went.

This is the gate. The wall is broken so you can get in to the left

The water tower

Good stairs. At least compared to the other stairs.

 The old garden

This is the front of the power building which you come to at the bottom of the stairs.

Inside the power building

If you walk to the right about 500 feet you come to this building that has mostly fallen down. I'm not sure what it was.

I was here to do makeup and hair for a photo shoot so I will blog about that when I get my pictures.

These are the stairs I didn't like. Picture this times five, this is only the end of the stairs!

I wanted to leave you with the view you have before you descend into the canyon.

What I read this November (Style Eyes)

I'm not much of a story reader. I actually like to read things that inform me about many subjects. Makeup Artistry is obviously one of them.

Style Eyes was written by Taylor Chang-Babaian and photographed by Albert Sanchez

This book is full of how to info, with pictures to go along with it. It had everything from proper eye care, tools to use, eye types, eyebrow fixes, products what they do and how to apply and how to apply eye makeup for all ages.  This book really has everything you need to know in it. I would recommend every person who does makeup for themselves or others definitely get this book.
