Deedee's Beauty Corner (Control Corrective Crystal C Serum)

I picked this serum up at a Control Corrective class I took for Jessner Peels. I tend to work on tightening and lifting serums for my face but my neck and chest suffer from sun damage. I have lived in California most of my life and have spent years in the sun. I unfortunately spent time in tanning booths while working in a salon for four years. So I do have sun damage. Vitamin C is helpful to reverse sun damage. I like Control Corrective products because they are products that produce results beyond what you can buy at the store. I have been using the Vitamin C faithfully for about 3 weeks and my skin does look improved and feels healthy to the touch. I use this product am and pm everyday. If you are young with little or no sun damage use sunblock. Do it for your future self. Well everyone should use sunblock regardless of your age.

What's in my Closet (How to dress for a heat wave)

When it is 106 degrees it is pretty impossible to dress for comfort. What I have found living in this climate is to wear your hair up. Sandals and shorts with very light material tops is my best choice.  I am not a huge sundress girl. I also keep a water blowing fan, lots of cool water to drink and sunglasses at all times when out. This is what I put together. These two pieces (top and shorts) are from my favorite consignment shop for a total purchase of $9!

Top: Copperkey
Shorts: Forever 21
Bag: Brighton

Necklace: mark.
Sunnies: Vintage

I ended up taking my hair down since I like it down better I tend to do that all day long. Hair up hair down. Anyone else do that?

Deedee's Beauty Corner (Getting the most out of your facial)

Most people know it is good to exfoliate skin and facial masks pull out debris and tighten skin. Well that can be true but if you don't use the right mask for your needs and exfoliate before you mask, then you are wasting your time.

*This post is for skin that is for the most part normal, dry, combination or oily. I am not referencing any skin disorders such as acne, eczema or any other type of ailment. To know what is correct for you in those cases you should first talk with a dermatologist or Esthetician in person so they can do a skin analysis.

Before applying any mask you need to exfoliate with a scrub, a good scrub. Your skin will only be as good as the products you use. This doesn't mean expensive just good quality. I got two Posh BFF face scrubs in Feb and I am only on my second scrub. I use it every night. So for $22 each that is a good value as well as good quality. The reason you use a scrub first is to remove the dead skin so the mask can do it's work.

The two masks I am using from Posh are Sea Witch and the Rain mask. If you skin is irritated or dry go with the Rain mask it is soothing, you can leave it on as long as you like, it will not harden and smells like fresh roses. This is also a great anti aging mask.

If you need some extra cleansing and tightening go with the Seawitch mask. It is a clay mask that tightens skin and pulls out debris. This mask is pretty intense so you only leave it on for 3 minutes. (Set that timer)

I alternate week to week on the masks. I have normal skin. My skin was not always normal but years of good skincare it has evolved into skin I am happy with makeup or not. You can take oily skin with acne and turn it around don't throw in the towel.

To recap:
Exfoliate (scrub)
Serum or moisturizer

Masking once a week is what I recommend.

My favorite serum/moisturizer from Posh is Sweet Young Thing

Posh has a whole line of skin care for the face as well as for your body. Send me an email or comment here if you have any questions.

Deedee's Beauty Corner (Loreal Paris Excellence Creme)

I was growing my roots out to see if I wanted to go darker. I decided I have always liked the lightest blonde so why change now. I grabbed this color at Ulta to give it a try. I did get a level 9 and I usually get a 10 so it is a tad darker (not really).

This color came with:
Pre color serum
Hair color and developer
Attachable comb for pulling color through.

The color came out perfect. My hair was also soft and had that new color shine.

I put the color on my roots for 20 minutes and combed the rest in for the last 10 minutes. Total time 30 minutes.
I did use that pre color serum to protect my hair, but only a tiny bit on my ends.

I also got a much needed haircut at my old Cosmetology school for $5! My last few haircuts someone cut a hole in my hair which I did not know. So I had 4 inches cut off and she textured the back a little. I like blunt but I guess it wasn't blunt before. Wish me luck on growing the 4 inches back.

What's in my Closet (A casual approach to a warm Fall)

First of all I need to say Summer is not over. Everyone is in transition to Fall with fashion and decor so I wanted to embrace fall colors keeping the heat in mind. I have had these green pants for years I love how comfortable and light the material is, yet they are not boring.

This is what I came up with.

Shirt: H & M
Pants: NY & Co.
Shoes: Restricted
Bag: Coach
Necklace: Burkes
Sunnies: NY & Co.
